Doug Thorley SSAMX Headers

Nick Thompson of Doug Thorley Headers was key in the process to reintroduce original Doug Thorley SSAMX Headers. An original set of Doug Thorley SSAMX Headers, of known lineage, has been used as the basis to create a new set of production jigs. The jigs will then be used to produce original headers by the original manufacturer.
The reintroduced Doug Thorley SSAMX Headers are available in black and white ceramic coating or raw finish for the purist and have been improved for a lifetime warranty.

Crane Prepared SSAMX cylinder heads

Chase Knight of Crane Cams (recently acquired by S & S Cycle) is instrumental in the process to reintroduce original Crane prepared SSAMX cylinder heads. Mr. Knight has been with Crane for over 40 years and was with them when the heads were first introduced.
An original Crane prepared SSAMX cylinder head, of known lineage, is being used as the basis to create a CNC scan program.The program will then be used to produce an original cylinder head which will be hand finished and flow tested to match the characteristics of the donor head.
The CNC programming and CNC machining is being performed at Ken Black Racing, home of Greg Anderson and Jason Line Pro Stock teams, and the process will be managed by their Crew chief, Rob Downing, son of SSAMX legend Lou Downing.
The new and original head should be available in April for Mr. Knight’s personal comparison and final approval. Once approved, Mr. Knight and Crane Cams is then expected to permit numbering and the stamp of Crane’s familiar signature on all of the subsequent cylinder heads from this process.
